In my practice, I play with ideas that challenge preconceived notions of how an older woman should present herself and how she should behave. I wear costumes and makeup to develop an exaggerated version of myself and use video, photography and stop frame animation as the processes through which to explore these ideas. Being visible and taking up space is central to this research. Challenging expectations with humour and celebration, by way of critiquing the contemporary experience of maturing women, and to be seen doing so through these processes, is the primary aim.
