Edward is a senior lecturer on the BA(Hons) Interior Architecture and Design course. He has worked at AUB for several years in various roles, progressing from Technician Demonstrator, to Lecturer to his current position.
During this time Edward was awarded an MA in Computational Arts with distinction from Goldsmiths University and successfully completed his Certificate of Post Graduate Education(PGCE).
Edward currently teaches on Interior Architecture and Design at the AUB as first year (L4) year leader, and working across all three years of undergraduate study.
As L4 unit leader he delivers introductory units Design Process and Communication along with Socially Conscious Design. In second year (L5) Edward works on Collaborative Practice, and across the third year (L6) as specialist subject group leader across both units, Exploratory Practice and the Final Portfolio Project.
He runs Executive Education courses to staff and external parties in specialist visualisation software and has run evening short courses in rapid prototyping and fabrication for designers.
Edward’s research focuses on designing within the Anthropocene for more than human regenerative speculative futures. Centring on world building, projects explore novel production and distribution practices, material developments and application using advanced manufacturing approaches. Selected portfolio projects include algae factory, positing food zero impact cultivation and distribution, a temporary audio visual installation communicating a series of works focusing on design in the Anthropocene.
Utilising a range of visualisation strategies, Edward is verse in CAD/CAM, visualisation and programming environments, and has designed, engineered and fabricated a unique drawing machine to explore and interrogate new approaches to representation of work.
Edward had successfully worked within EU funded international projects Interreg developing new haptic and visual interfaces for networked communication. He is currently working on the development of ERDF match funded product development of his drawing machine to create prototypes ready for a future product launch.
