At AUB, I teach across all levels of the BA (Hons) Fashion, from drawing to concept development, fabric experimentation and supporting students in designing Final Major Collections. More recently, as Course Leader, I'm responsible for management of the curriculum delivery as well as managing and supporting the academic team, course resources and the studio and environment and student experience.
After graduating from Central Saint Martins with an MA in Textiles for Fashion under Professor Louise Wilson, I have worked as a freelance designer at a wide range of luxury fashion companies including Alexander McQueen and Tom Ford. At each of these companies, I was involved with all aspects of design and make, from initial research to designing and making textiles pieces for show garments. At Alexander McQueen, I was employed to assist as part of a small select team at five consecutive Paris Fashion Week Shows and was also trusted as part of a team of three to set up and archive the Alexander McQueen collections following Lee McQueen’s death.
I was the embroidery and textiles designer from 2014 to 2015 for couture shoes at Georgina Goodman, working closely in a very small team, designing and making textiles to create and embellish extraordinary couture shoes. I also contributed to commercial shoe collections and other accessories in this role. My skills include textiles design, embroidery design, print design, artwork and placement design, fabric techniques, draping, pattern cutting, and manufacture.
Above all, I'm especially interested in designing integrated textiles which inform design, rather than being applied on to a base, and building 3D constructions to inform shape. I have deeply routed love of craft and creating new textures to an impeccable standard.
I take a key role in the delivery of all three creative Level 6 briefs for BA (Hons) Fashion, and oversee the design, experimentation, development and realisation of the Level 6 final major collections. I also act as co-ordinator for all BA (Hons) Fashion Level 6 competition entries and Level 6 industry lead briefs.
I was part of a small team that designed, developed and validated the MA Digital Fashion Innovation at AUB and I've managed the delivery of this in its first year. As Course Leader, I manage all planning, curriculum structure and organisation as well as supporting the academic team in their roles. I'm responsible for timetabling, course construction, curriculum design, staff allocation and visiting tutor management.
My specialist research area covers: Sustainability within fashion, Textiles for fashion, Combined textiles and textiles technique development.
