Gideon has 18 years of industry experience in animation, television and theatre, with his main specialism in the area of stop motion animation production, having worked for Aardman Animations for over a decade. He now teaches with the BA (Hons) Animation Production course, supporting stop motion and fabrication delivery to undergraduate and postgraduate students. His wealth of experience and knowledge in making and filming TV series and feature films, working in a live studio environment and fulfilling high-level client briefs, provides students with an industry perspective to their studies. Gideon also sits on the AUB Sustainability and Net Zero Task Force, a group that helps oversee AUB's transition to carbon net zero by 2030.
Gideon teaches on the BA (Hons) Animation Production course, specialising in stop motion and fabrication for animation. He previously led the short course in Modelmaking and taught on the Summer and Spring Arts Schools programme.
Gideon responds to academic research and the simplicity of natural systems, attempting to build a cohesive relationship between art and science. His own practice is rooted in innovative ways of thinking, new materials, new techniques and academic examination. It seeks to raise questions about everyday space and our place within it: establishing a discourse between what is considered scientific and the emotional experience. He has an interest in the visceral response of learners to 'stuck states' and the use of a reflective ecology to help overcome liminality.
