James Jackson is Environment and Sustainability Manager within AUB Campus Services. He is responsible for AUB’s strategic planning of environmental sustainability including net zero, through membership of Environment Committee and Net Zero Task Force. He is also a member of construction projects steering groups providing advice and support for new buildings or major refurbishments, advising on net zero or other sustainable framework activity. He has successfully implemented ISO14001:2015 / EcoCampus Platinum framework, Fairtrade certification, and obtained Salix Government funding for heat decarbonisation. He manages the day-to-day operations of environmental activities ensuring legal compliance and best practice for energy, travel, waste, biodiversity net gain, and net zero and is lead author of AUB’s Sustainability and Net Zero programme of works that sets methodology and targets to 2030.
James studied Environmental Science at BSc and MSc level at Bournemouth University and is currently researching climate change impacts in Dorset for his PhD. He is Convenor and Chair of the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (South Group) and an ISO 14001:2015 Internal Auditor, and NEBOSH Health & Safety qualified person.
