Jonathan is a Passivhaus Designer and AECB CarbonLite Certifier and Building Modeller who has structured his career around a passion for utilising low-carbon materials to deliver low energy buildings. After completing his undergraduate degree in Sydney, Jonathan relocated to Umeå, Sweden for a postgraduate embedded within the Laboratory for Sustainable Architectural Practice. After graduating he returned to the UK to work in private practice where he has built a portfolio of low energy buildings including the UK’s first off-grid Certified Passivhaus dwelling.
His focus is on refining conventional techniques to deliver high performance buildings with minimal embodied carbon and is passionate about the role of energy modelling tools in data-driven optimisation of design. In addition to architecture and energy modelling, Jonathan has been on an outreach programme in South Wales for the last 18 months and is currently assisting a local authority in developing net zero planning policy for their emerging Local Development Plan.
Jonathan provides lectures, seminars and tutorials on building performance, energy modelling and sustainability metrics across the undergraduate and postgraduate architecture programme.
