I have a background in teaching Academic Literacies as an Academic Skills Tutor (Sheffield University, 2009-2015; Southampton University, 2015-2017) and as a teacher of English as an Additional Language (Limkokwing University, Kuala Lumpur, 2007; International House, London, 2008). I also trained and practised as an IELTS Speaking and Writing Examiner.
I joined Student Services team in 2018 as a Study Skills Tutor, where I provide one-to-one academic support to students whose English is their first language and deliver academic skills workshops tailored to students’ needs, e.g. structuring academic essays, critical thinking and writing skills, or time management. I also trained and practise in supporting adult learners with dyslexia and co-occurring difficulties. Overall, in the last 15 years, along with a deeper understanding of Academic Literacy skills, I have enjoyed working with university students and supporting them in adjusting to a new academic culture.
