Hello, I'm Lisa.
I'm a Visiting Tutor on MA Illustration and MA Fine Art. My practice encompasses drawing, sculpture, photography, performance and film. I am interested in questioning the female artist’s body, as a site for transformation and for the creation of fresh narratives. I am curious about the potent and powerful relationship between landscape, the maternal body and the act of creativity. Outcomes are often simultaneously absurd, humorous and poignant.

My work emerges from the domestic space, the Dorset landscape and my garden. I collect, combine and adapt found objects. I use additional materials to re-purpose, re-imagine and establish fresh readings. Household textiles, objects and familial paraphernalia are transformed into oversized theatrical garments, inflatable weapons and semi-surgical prosthesis. Like feminist artists before me, I utilise processes and techniques historically associated with women’s domestic confinement, such as drawing, sewing, knitting and embroidery. I use my body as a site of transformation through performance to activate the objects to create new meanings and associations around re-enactment, the female body and staging.
