Over the last decade, I have worked continuously across performance, community and educational settings within the arts sector, as a dance and arts specialist. Throughout my career, I have worked professionally as a performer, maker, teacher and project manager, which equipped me with a solid understanding of the industry's ever changing requirements.
In my role as a lecturer on the BA (Hons) Dance degree at Arts University Bournemouth, I am particularly interested in the 'health and wellbeing' aspect of my discipline. My current research focus is about the psychological experience of female (AFAB) dancers, in relation to hormonal health and their dance practice. To further contribute to this topic, I'm studying on the M.Sc. degree in Sport and Exercise (Dance) Psychology to expand my research approaches, and support the development of industry-relevant curricula.
Outside of AUB, I also work as the community programme manager for the Forest Arts Centre (part of Hampshire Cultural Trust), where I lead on outreach and program planning and delivery. I am devoted to promote the value of the arts across our local communities. I am eager to create more opportunities for people to access and experience the intrinsically bonding power of creativity and movement-based practices!
Previously: Unit leader for The Conceptual Dancer (choreographic unit for Level 4); Tutor for Technique classes (Levels 4, 5, and 6); second assessor for Performance Practice (Level 5).
