Tom has been leading the AUB's Short Course in life drawing for over 10 years – part of a journey of 25 years or more of teaching the subject in Dorset. He has also taught on the AUB's BA Animation and BA Performance Design and Film Costume (previously Costume and Performance Design) courses.
He is currently the life drawing tutor for the NCCA Computer Animated Arts and Computer Animation and Technical Arts undergraduate courses at Bournemouth University alongside his freelance career as an oil painter and printer.
Tom trained at the Slade School of Art in the 1990s where he was taught by Euan Uglow amongst other notable artists.
Asides from solo exhibitions (Wells' Cathedral), he regularly exhibits with other members of his family (Sally Winter Etchings and Ben Winter Art).
He was part of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters summer show in 2010.
His clients include Sally and Ronnie Wood, National Rail and Coopers Lybrand (PWC).
Tom is also a sculptor, watercolour and graphite artist who specialises in the human form.
Tom currently tutors Life Drawing: the Essential Techniques short course at the AUB. He has previously taught on the BA Animation and Costume and Performance Design courses as well as his work at Bournemouth University. He also led the life drawing course at BCCA for over 10 years.
Tom is currently researching teaching methodologies using the digital drawing applications.
Tom continues to work as a freelance artist creating portraits and landscapes in oils, graphite, inks, lino cuts, etchings and watercolour.
